James Jones Wants To ‘Finish’ His Career With The Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday at the University of Phoenix Stadium. Aaron Rodgers’ late-game heroics was enough to force overtime against the Cardinals and make this playoff game an instant classic, the Packers were unable to contain Larry Fitzgerald in overtime and as a result, were knocked out of the postseason.
With Green Bay now picking the pieces after another failed attempt to get to the Super Bowl, there’s been a lot of questions about which players will be returning and potential changes that may be made during the offseason.
One player that resurrected his career in his return to Green Bay this season is the veteran wide receiver, James Jones. The 31-year-old became an important weapon in the offensive arsenal for the Packers after Jordy Nelson went down for the year with a season-ending injury. James hopes to remain in Green Bay for the rest of his career saying the following via By Michael Cohen of the Journal Sentinel:
“I’ve said it before, I would love to finish my career here,” Jones said. “But I said that last time, so… It’s a crazy business. We’ll see what happens.”
Jones played well in his return to Green Bay putting up some impressive numbers. The veteran wideout scored eight touchdowns for the Packers which is his highest total since his breakout season (14) with the Packers back in 2012. Jones caught 50 passes for 890 receiving yards to go along with his eight touchdowns.
Jones signed a one-year deal with the Packers before the start of the regular season after playing one year with the Oakland Raiders and attending training camp for the New York Giants. Jones might have to wait for some time before his fate in Green Bay is decided, but it’s clear he doesn’t want to go anywhere else unless forced to do so.
