NBA Trade Rumors: Milwaukee Bucks Already Willing To Trade Greg Monroe
The Milwaukee Bucks came into the 2015-16 NBA season with high hopes of turning things around with head coach Jason Kidd at the helm. The Bucks were one of the surprise teams in the Eastern Conference last season, and the front office was expecting to make even more of an impression with the addition of Greg Monroe.
Unfortunately for Milwaukee, the Bucks seem to have taken two steps back rather than a giant leap forward. Retaining Khris Middleton and landing a big-name free agent in Monroe were impressive moves by the struggling franchise, but nothing seems to have changed with the team currently 11 games under .500 at 20-31.
As a result of the team’s struggles, it appears the team is prepared to make some bold moves heading toward the NBA trade deadline on Feb. 18. Monroe, along with Michael Carter-Williams, are rumored to be on the trading block in Milwaukee, according to Gery Woelfel of Racine Sports Zone:
And that includes possibly moving Michael Carter-Williams, who has been consistently inconsistent since joining the Bucks.
A much bigger surprise is the Bucks have made known that center Greg Monroe is available at the right price, according to some NBA officials.
Monroe hasn’t missed a beat since having a breakout season with the Detroit Pistons last season. The 25-year-old is averaging almost identical numbers across the board in comparison to last year’s totals with the Pistons.
In 49 games, Monroe is averaging 16.6 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game for the Bucks. Monroe’s rebounding is down slightly with the forward/center ripping down 10.2 boards last year, but his points, assists, and shooting percentage (52.1) are all up.
With Monroe’s numbers as solid as ever, the up-and-comer will likely receive considerable interest from teams around the league. Milwaukee will almost certainly have a high asking price, but some teams may still be willing to talk with Monroe showing he can still play at a high level.
