Kevin Durant Wants To Be ‘Courted’ By Teams In NBA Free Agency
With the end of the 2015-16 NBA season only a few months away, everyone wants to know whether superstar Kevin Durant is ready to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder in NBA free agency. Although Durant has yet to make a decision or lean one way or the other on the subject, it’s safe to say he’s seriously considering changing teams this summer.
According to Chris Mannix of The Vertical, Durant is looking forward to be courted by teams in free agency in the same way LeBron James was before he went to Miami:
Durant is looking forward to being recruited, to being courted, to being treated like the biggest free-agent prize since LeBron James six years ago. The chances of Durant sending a simple tweet again announcing his return are virtually nonexistent, but the Thunder remain hopeful that his decision, regardless of how this season ends, is the same.
At this point, there’s no telling where Durant might land when it is all said and done this summer. No other player on the free-agent market will draw the kind of attention that Durant will meaning every player on the market might have to wait until he makes his decision.
Over the past few months, rumors have surfaced about the Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, and San Antonio Spurs being potential candidates. The Warriors are the favorites to sign Durant as of right now, but no one knows which way the one-time NBA MVP is leaning heading into free agency.
Of course, if the Thunder make a deep run in the playoffs and can somehow edge out Golden State or San Antonio, Durant’s decision could essentially be made for him. It may simply come down to whether the Thunder can win a title this season or at the very least make the NBA Finals.
