Warriors Coach Steve Kerr Says Stephen Curry Is ‘Doubtful’ For Game 4

The Golden State Warriors suffered only their second loss of the NBA playoffs in Game 3 against the Portland Trail Blazers with Damian Lillard torching the defending NBA champions. Lillard went off for a game-high 40 points while also dishing out 10 assists against the Warriors leaving many wondering when Stephen Curry would get back on the floor for Golden State.

According to Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, Curry might be out for a little longer with the reigning NBA MVP still on the mend from his knee injury, via Kevin Arnovitz of ESPN:

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr on Sunday characterized the status of point guard Stephen Curry as doubtful for Game 4 versus the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday night.

“I would just say he’s doubtful for tomorrow but slowly and surely making progress,” Kerr said.

Curry has yet to play in the second round of the playoffs this year with the Warriors winning two out of the three games played thus far against the Blazers. Portland has gained some momentum after dropping the first two games against Golden State and will look to keep the pressure on in Game 4 at the Moda Center.

An ideal situation for the Warriors would be winning Game 4 on the road and returning to Oracle Arena for Game 5 with Curry ready to return. The Blazers can take tremendous strides by coming out on top in Game 4 therefore putting a lot of pressure on the defending champions to take the lead in the series in Game 5 at home.

Curry has been out of the lineup for the Warriors since Game 4 of the first round against the Houston Rockets. Conditioning will likely be one of the biggest issues for Curry once he finally returns as it may take some time to get back up to speed, in particular against a guard like Lillard.
