Did Aqib Talib Pull a Plaxico? Maybe!
Over the weekend it was wildly reported that Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib had been shot in the leg during a confrontation at a Dallas strip club. Two other people were also shot in the altercation.
Initial reporting on the incident noted that a suspect had not been named, though in the case of Talib, there may be a reason for that. It’s all just speculation at this point, but Broncos insider Mike Klis told 9News Denver that the gunshot wound may very well have been self-inflicted.

Referring to the injury as “accidental†suggests what could be a Plaxico Burress-style self-inflicted gunshot wound, rather than a deliberate outside act. According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the Broncos were already exploring “the possibility of a self-shooting†on Sunday. Â
The Broncos released the following statement Sunday afternoon:
“We are in communication with Aqib Talib, who remains at a Dallas hospital for observation as he recovers from a gunshot wound suffered to his lower right leg on Sunday. He is expected to be released from the hospital soon, and we are glad he is OK and will make a full recovery.
“Our organization has been in touch with the NFL on this matter, and we will provide additional updates as appropriate.â€
In the meantime, Talib was treated for his injuries at a Dallas area hospital and has already been released. The timing was unfortunate though, as the Super Bowl champion Broncos visited the White House on Monday—Talib was unable to join his teammates in Washington.
