Clippers’ James Harden passes Carmelo Anthony on NBA’s all-time scoring list
LA Clippers star guard James Harden added another impressive feat to his resume by surpassing Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony for 10th on the all-time scoring list.
Harden reached that mark in Saturday’s loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He needed just 21 points to pass Anthony and finished with 34 points in the contest.
Earlier in the week, Harden voiced his gratitude for the opportunity to move up on the vaunted list.
“You look at that list, it’s like there’s no way,” Harden said via ESPN. “There’s no way I got an opportunity to be a part of this list. It’s just literally like a dream come true. The work that I literally put in is coming to fruition. There’s so many things that this game has done for me, and I’m sure for all those guys as well.”
Harden sits at 28,303 career points, with Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal next on the list with 28,596 points. Meanwhile, Kevin Durant ranks eighth with 31,051.
Harden will likely surpass O’Neal over the next several weeks, while moving beyond that will require a couple more seasons.

The 36-year-old is putting together a resurgent campaign with the Clippers, averaging a team-best 26.8 points behind shooting 44.3 percent from the floor and 36.7 percent from beyond the arc.
Despite his scoring output, the Clippers have stumbled through the first two months of the season, holding a 6-18 record through the first 24 games. LA has dropped eight of its last 10 games and sits three games behind the Portland Trail Blazers for the 10th spot.
