Dixon Favored to Win Indy 500
It’s not much of a surprise, considering he won the pole position, but Scott Dixon is the early favorite to win the Indianapolis 500. Dixon is listed at +500, with Will Power and Fernando Alonso second at +800. While Alonso has had a great career, it’s asking quite a bit for him to win the biggest IndyCar race of the year. The other drivers are used to driving in the IndyCar series. But Alsonso is not.
Things really tighten up after the first two, where a number of drivers are in the 10-to-1 to 12-to-1 range. Helio Castroneves is +1000 and Juan Pablo Montoya is +1100. Former race winners like Ryan Hunter-Reay and Tony Kanaan are both +1200. The same odds can be found on Marco Andretti. At +1400 are the likes of Josef Newgarden and Simon Pagenaud.
But the sentimental choice for many will be James Hinchcliffe at +2000. And how could people not want to see him win after his horrific accident a few years ago? One bet you probably want to avoid is the Field bet at +1500.
There will also be a number of head-to-head match-ups you can wager on. But odds haven’t been released for those wagers even though you can see the wagers that will be posted.
There’s a reason why Memorial Day weekend is a favorite among auto racing fans. Not only do you have the Indianapolis 500, you also have Formula 1’s Grand Prix of Monaco. It’s no surprise that Lewis Hamilton is the favorite to win Monaco, with Sebastian Vettel second and Valtteri Bottas is a distant third in the odds.
There’s also NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte, which is the longest race of the NASCAR taking place during the weekend. There’s little reason to wonder why racing fans look forward to the holiday. From a racing standpoints, it’s the best weekend of the year.
