NBA Rumors: Kyrie Irving Thinks LeBron James ‘Leaked’ Cavs Trade Rumors
The situation among Cleveland Cavaliers’ superstars Kyrie Irving and LeBron James has gotten ugly. Not only does Irving no longer want to play alongside James in Cleveland, but he may not trust his teammate after recent events.
Apparently, according to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, Irving may be convinced that LeBron leaked his trade demand which was discussed behind closed doors and kept under wraps in Cleveland, transcription via Dan Feldman of Pro Basketball Talk:
According to my sources, they believe LeBron James had everything to do with news getting out that Kyrie Irving wants to be traded, because Kyrie Irving and his representation and others met with the Cavaliers a couple weeks ago, and not a word got out until recently. They believe that LeBron James got word of it and was put off by it and leaked it. I’m not going to accuse LeBron of such a thing. I don’t know that to be true at all. But I know that’s what Kyrie Irving believes.
At this point, things have gotten so out of control in Cleveland that there’s no telling what is in store for the team’s immediate future. Before any of the Irving trade rumors surfaced, many believed that LeBron was headed to the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency next summer meaning the team could look completely different after next season.
In the last few weeks, the team has missed out on opportunities to acquire Jimmy Butler, Paul George and to extend general manager David Griffin a new contract. The team is seemingly falling apart, and it may take something short of a miracle to keep it together moving forward.
