NBA Rumors: Warriors May Try To Pursue Paul George
The Golden State Warriors are the cream of the crop in the NBA. The team headlined by superstars Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant and perennial All-Stars Klay Thompson and Draymond Green is so talented that many believe the team will be winning championships for many years to come.
Although the Warriors already have arguably the most talented roster in the NBA, Golden State may look to add another piece to the puzzle next summer. That piece may be Paul George of the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to Tim Kawakami of The Athletic via The Washington Post:
Marcus and I have teased this for more than a year. We think they’re going to go after Paul George, somehow. I think Joe Lacob is going to try to find a way to get Paul George. I don’t know how that would happen, but I didn’t know how it was going to happen when they were – three years ago, when they said they were go after Durant. Well, they didn’t say it. But they might have whispered it.
George, after publicly letting it be known he wanted to be traded by the Indiana Pacers, ultimately landed with the Thunder earlier this summer. George openly lobbied to end up with the Los Angeles Lakers, and most believe he’ll eventually sign with the team once he becomes an unrestricted free agent next year.
Obviously, anything can happen between now and when free agency begins on July 1 of 2018. George may be content playing alongside Russell Westbrook, or another team may draw his interest, but the Warriors going after the perennial All-Star might be an intriguing proposition.
