NBA Rumors: Knicks, Rockets Reignite Trade Talks Involving Carmelo Anthony
After months of nonstop speculation surrounding the immediate future of superstar Carmelo Anthony, the New York Knicks and Houston Rockets appear to have revisited trade talks between the two teams to make a blockbuster deal.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the two NBA franchises are talking about making a trade and potentially adding a third team into the deal to make it come to fruition.
The New York Knicks and Houston Rockets have re-engaged on trade talks involving 10-time All-Star Carmelo Anthony, with the Rockets again canvassing third-team trade partners to construct a deal, league sources told ESPN.
Anthony has all the power in this situation with the Knicks. The veteran forward has a no-trade clause in his contract with New York and has been reluctant to waive that clause for any destination other than Houston.
The Rockets have become a very attractive destination for Anthony after the team acquired arguably one of the best point guards in the league Chris Paul. Houston went from being one of the top teams in the Western Conference to potentially becoming the biggest threat to the Golden State Warriors.
The addition of Anthony would give the Rockets three star players that demand attention every time they step on the floor. There’s no telling how the trio will work, especially considering the fact they all need the ball to be successful, but all three appear to be willing to make sacrifices in an effort to contend for a title in Houston.
