Packers WR Jordy Nelson Wants To Play ‘Two To Four More Years’
As arguably one of the best wide receivers in the NFL and Aaron Rodgers favorite target in the Green Bay Packers offense, Jordy Nelson has had a great career thus far. The veteran wideout hopes to keep that career going as he told former teammate AJ Hawk on his podcast The HawkCast, transcribed by Zach Kruse of Packers Wire.
“I got two more years left on this deal, it would be great to play those out and kind of see where we’re at,†Nelson told former Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk on The HawkCast podcast. “Me personally, how I feel, how the body feels. And then, obviously, it’s up to the organization what they would want to do.â€
Nelson gives a more definitive timeline regarding how much longer he intends to play in the NFL, via Kruse transcription.
“I would say anywhere between two to four more years. I think four more – so this one and three more – would be my max,†Nelson said. “That would put me at 13 years. I’d be happy with that, obviously. At some point, I have to get my family back to Kansas.â€
The one thing that may prevent Nelson from reaching his goal is injuries. Although still an elite wideout in the league, Nelson has dealt with a few injury issues over the past two years.
Nelson missed the entire 2015 NFL season after suffering a torn ACL and last year he went down with fractured ribs in the NFC Wild Card game against the Dallas Cowboys.
If Nelson can stay healthy moving forward, he may be able to hold off Father Time a little longer and achieve his goal of playing four more years.
