Giants Star WR Odell Beckham Jr. Is ’50-50′ To Play Against Cowboys
Over the past few weeks, the major concern for the New York Giants heading into the 2017 NFL regular season has been the health of superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
The perennial Pro Bowler sprained his ankle during an NFL preseason game against the Cleveland Browns shedding doubt on whether he’d be ready for the season opener against the division rival Dallas Cowboys.
With only days left before the Giants and Cowboys take the field at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, an update has been given on Beckham’s status, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Beckham is believed to 50-50 to play with an ankle injury suffered last month in the preseason against the Browns.
Obviously, without Beckham healthy and on the field, the Giants are at a significant disadvantage against arguably one of the best teams in the NFC. Beckham demands attention while on the field making the defensive assignment for the Cowboys much different than it would normally be.
Fortunately, the Giants do have a formidable replacement for Beckham. New York signed veteran wideout Brandon Marshall during the NFL offseason, and he can fill the role as the focal point of the offense for at least a few weeks.
