Carmelo Anthony ‘Cautiously Optimistic’ He’ll Be Traded To Rockets
The New York Knicks may finally be on the verge of trading their face of the franchise. Carmelo Anthony may be on his way out of the Big Apple with a blockbuster trade to the Houston Rockets potentially happening before next week.
According to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News, Anthony could be traded to the Rockets before Monday.
Anthony’s camp is cautiously optimistic that a deal will be struck before Monday, and trying not to think about the potential media circus that will take place if Carmelo is still with the Knicks.
The trade speculation surrounding Anthony’s seemingly inevitable departure has been going on for quite some time. On multiple occasions, Anthony has been linked to the Rockets with many believing it was only a matter of time before he’d be playing alongside Chris Paul and James Harden in Houston.
The main issue for the Rockets and Knicks has been needing a third team to make it happen. They may have found just that if this latest rumor has any truth to it. Anthony’s large contract has been the biggest hurdle with the veteran forward set to earn $26.2 million next season.
If Anthony is traded next week, he’ll be one of many All-Stars around the league that has changed teams over the summer. Anthony would join the likes of Paul George, Jimmy Butler, and his potential future teammate in Paul.
