The Los Angeles Clippers will look much different during the 2017-18 NBA season. The team has parted ways with longtime point guard Chris Paul and now it is officially Blake Griffin’s team to lead moving forward.

With Paul now running the show alongside James Harden with the Houston Rockets, Griffin will be looked at to fill the void left by arguably one of the best floor generals in the NBA. During the team’s media day on Monday, head coach Doc Rivers talked about how Griffin will be used during the upcoming season, via ESPN.

“There will be times when Blake is the tallest guy on the floor,” coach Doc Rivers said. “We want him to be an aggressive player, an attack player.

“He’ll bring the ball up at times. He’ll be one of the guys we use as a facilitator.”

At this point, the Clippers are expected to take a step back in the Western Conference this season. The West has only gotten better over the course of the offseason with the Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Minnesota Timberwolves making strides to compete with the Golden State Warriors.

As for the Clippers, Griffin is the only real star attraction to go along with a one-dimensional DeAndre Jordan who may see a drastic dip in production without Paul throwing him lobs on a nightly basis in Los Angeles.

Griffin, however, will have to shoulder the load in a role that he’s never played before. The veteran forward will have to fill up the stat sheet night in and night out while trying to stay healthy which has been a challenge for the athletic forward.

Only time will tell if Griffin is up to the challenge of filling Paul’s shoes for Los Angeles.
