Packers QB Aaron Rodgers may be done for the season

The Green Bay Packers may have suffered a devastating loss on Sunday. The storied franchise has potentially lost their superstar quarterback for the rest of the season with Aaron Rodgers breaking his collarbone.

According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, the season could be lost for Rodgers after the collarbone injury.

Aaron Rodgers broke his right collarbone after Minnesota Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr hit him in the first quarter Sunday. He could miss the remainder of the season, the team said.

Rodgers is arguably the best quarterback in the NFL. The veteran gunslinger produces on a weekly basis for the Packers and losing him under center basically takes them out of the running in terms of competing for a Super Bowl title.

Although Rodgers seems to be out for the rest of the way, it isn’t beyond the realm of possibility that he returns before the end of the season. The problem is whether Green Bay will still be in contention for a playoff spot at that point with the Minnesota Vikings already having the edge on the team and a first-place standing in the NFC North.

If Rodgers is ultimately done for the year, most will cross off the Packers as a contender in the NFC unless the team brings in a game-changer like Tony Romo and possibly even Colin Kaepernick.

In the meantime, every team in contention in the NFC may have leaped forward with Green Bay no longer the dominant force that struck fear into the hearts of opponents from week to week.
