LeBron James Not Waiving His No-Trade Clause

After the Cleveland Cavaliers lost yet another game, this time to the Orlando Magic, a team tied for the Eastern Conference’s worst record, superstar LeBron James told reporters that he would not waive the no-trade clause in his contract as the NBA trade deadline of 3 p.m. ET Thursday nears.

LeBron James said he was in Cleveland for the long haul. Adding he was here for the current season and is attempting to determine ways that the team can remain competitive.

James said he couldn’t just give up on his teammates as the team puts far too much into each game. Concluding that he owes it to his teammates to finish the season and would never waive his no-trade clause.

On Tuesday, Cleveland put up 43 points in the first quarter and was in front by 21 points. The wheels fell off during the second half, though. They scored 22 during the third quarter and only  nine during the fourth.

After seeing 43 put up in the first it is almost impossible to believe a team of professional basketball players can score just 9 points over the same span in the same game. But that is just what the team, with the one of the best players to ever play in the NBA did, on Tuesday.

James scored 25 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, both team highs. He also had five assists and committed six turnovers.

However, in the 14 minutes he played during the second half, James did not have a rebound or an assist. The last time he didn’t record a rebound or assist during the second half was March 2016 versus Miami. Although he played just eight minutes in that half.

However, it was not only James who saw a drop off in production following the first quarter. JR Smith, Isaiah Thomas and Derrick Rose combined to shoot 0-for-17 during the final three quarters of the game, including missing all seven attempts from 3-point territory.

Thomas said that it seems when the team hits adversity it splits into individual players going their own ways playing one-on-one at the offensive end and on defense it is everyone for himself.

The regular season has 30 games left for the team to turn things around. But it sure appears like the Cavs are headed in the wrong direction and fast.
