Nikola Jocik Sets Triple-Double Record

Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic made an historic triple double as Denver beat the Milwaukee Bucks 134 – 123 Thursday night.

Nikola Jokic became the fastest player to reach a triple double in 20 NBA seasons. He achieved the feat with 1:54 remaining in the second quarter. The third-year Serbian finished with 30 points, 17 assists and 15 rebounds. His triple-double, completed after 14 minutes and 33 seconds is the fastest since Jim Tucker, at 17 minutes.

The only current NBA players who come close to this are Russell Westbrook, LeBron James and Ben Simmons.

Previously, only James Harden (2016) and Magic Johnson (1981) achieved a 30 point, 17 assist 15 rebound game in history.

Jokic shot 11-of-14 from the floor, including 3-of-3 from behind the arc, and 5-of-5 from the free throw line.

It’s Nikola Jokic’s second triple-double in two games after making 23 points, 11 assists and 13 rebounds against San Antonio. He now has five triple-doubles for the season. It’s promising form from Jocik, who is part of a young Denver Nuggets core including Will Barton, Jamal Murray, and Gary Harris.

Denver are now 6th in the Western Conference, with a 32 – 26 record. Although it was a strong performance from Jocik, the Nuggets team acquitted themselves well as a whole. All five members of their starting line-up finished with double-digit points tallies.

Gary Harris had 28 points while Jamal Murray had 26, followed by Will Barton with 19. Wilson Chandler finished with 11 points and Trey Lyles came off the bench to score 12.

Milwaukee star Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with 36 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists. Eric Bledsoe had 27 points for the Milwaukee while Khris Middleton finished with 17. Milwaukee is 32 – 25 for the season and are in 7th in the Eastern Conference.
