Andrew Bogut to Return to NBA Next Season
Australian big man Andrew Bogut will not return to the NBA until next season, the player announced on Twitter.
The free agent was waived by the Los Angeles Lakers in January. Andrew Bogut was expected to join a playoff team in time for the postseason. However, he is opting to stay in Australia to focus on his family.
He returned to Australia in February after the death of his grandfather, Mile Bogut. He decided to stay in his home country with his wife Jessica, who has been diagnosed with a high-risk pregnancy. Andrew Bogut will target a NBA return for the 2018/2019 season.
Bogut (33), appeared in 23 games this season for the Los Angeles Lakers. The 7-footer averaged 1.6 points and 3.4 rebounds in 9.4 minutes per game. He signed a $2.3million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers before being released.

Taking to Twitter, he said:
“I have decided not to return to the NBA for the remainder of the 2017/18 [season] for a number of reasons.
“I had returned to Australia in February for the death of my grandfather, Mile Bogut, may he R.I.P.
“On top of that, my wife’s pregnancy with our second child was diagnosed as a very high-risk pregnancy. She will not be able to travel to the USA, so I decided to stay in Australia through the pregnancy, rather than signing a 10-day contract/contract to finish the season/playoffs.
“I thank those teams that reached out and inquired. This was a decision which has been up in the air for the past few months, but ultimately, I decided being home and around as much as possible during this period was the best thing for my family.
“I am still working out and staying in shape, and will be ready for training camp for the 2018/19 season.
“Thanks to all the fans out there for the continued support!â€
