Paul George on his Shooting Trouble

Oklahoma City Thunder small forward Paul George’s recent shooting troubles were highlighted in Tuesday’s defeat to the Golden State Warriors.

The game slipped from the Thunders’ grasp in largely to the inefficient shooting of Paul George and his teammates. Golden State eventually won the game 111-107.

Russell Westbrook finished the game with 44 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists for the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, his teammates failed to support him, and it wasn’t enough. Carmelo Anthony and Paul George shot a combined 9-of-35, including 3-of-18 from 3 on a night of missed chances.

Although George finished with 20 points and 8 rebounds, he acknowledged after the game that he has issues with shooting.

“I’ve got to figure it out,” he said. “There’s something mechanical in my shot. I’ve had struggles throughout the season and my career of shooting, but it’s all just been about not making shots. I don’t know what it is. It feels funny. Shooting the ball feels funny. So I’m going to work with the trainers and try and figure that out. But I don’t feel myself shooting the ball right now.”

The Golden State Warriors were without Stephen Curry for the 6th straight game due to an MCL sprain. In spite of this, the team performed well, in contrast to their Oklahoma City Thunder counterparts.

Golden State was led by Kevin Durant, who finished with 34 points and 10 rebounds. Klay Thompson also added 20 points to offset the absence of Stephen Curry.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr was pleased with the way his team played:

“It was a great win, short-handed and on the road against a good team fighting for playoff position. It’s a hell of a win, especially without all our guards. I loved how these guys played and competed.”
