Philadelphia 76ers Through to Round 2 of the NBA Playoffs

The Philadelphia 76ers qualified for round 2 of the playoffs with a 104 – 91 win over the Heat on Tuesday.

The Philadelphia 76ers won twice in Miami and once at home to take the series 4 – 1. They will play the winner of the Boston Celtics VS the Milwaukee bucks, who face off again on Thursday. The Celtics can advance to round 2 of the NBA playoffs if they win.

The Sixers’ young stars, Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, stood out against Miami Heat on the night. The team’s form in the first NBA playoff series is seen as a turning of the tide for Philadelphia.

Until Simmons and Embiid were drafted, Philadelphia was one of the worst teams in the NBA. Last night, Simmons finished with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Joel Embiid finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Both players have made a comeback from injury to help the Sixers in the playoffs.

The Heat’s future Hall of Fame inductee Dwyane Wade, possibly playing his last game, had 11 points and five rebounds.

“This was a great series,” said Dwyane Wade.

“I think they grew up and learned some things and the way we pushed them. These guys are the future of the NBA and the NBA is in great hands with Ben [Simmons] and Joel [Embiid] and those guys.

“I believe in those guys, that they’ll be special for a while. And if they believe they can [win] now, then they can. It’s all in their belief.”

Before the season, Philadelphia 76ers coach Brett Brown made a bold claim that his team would make the playoffs. He was criticized, but his team believed in him, according to T.J McConnell.

“We all said that. If we didn’t make the playoffs, it was for sure a disappointment. But this isn’t an NCAA tournament run where you get a couple of good wins. We’re playing really good basketball, and in the playoffs you just have to continue it.”
