Evander Kane to Rejoin San Jose Sharks
Evander Kane is reportedly close to signing a whopping seven-year contract with the San Jose Sharks. The deal could be finalized on Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.
Evander Kane (26), will become an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career on July 1. The forward joined the Sharks from the Buffalo Sabres on Feb 26. He was part of a trade for forward Danny O’Regan and conditional first- and fourth-round picks in the 2019 NHL Draft.
A potential deal between Evander Kane and the San Jose Sharks would work out well for the Buffalo Sabres. If Kane rejoins the Sharks, Buffalo will receive San Jose’s first-round pick in the 2019 draft instead of a second round selection. The selection is lottery-protected and could be moved to 2020.

The contract is reportedly worth $49 million. Kane was the No. 4 pick in the 2009 NHL Draft by the Atlanta Thrashers. For San Jose, Â Kane had 14 points (nine goals, five assists) in 17 regular-season games with the Sharks.
In the Stanley Cup Playoffs, he played with a separated shoulder and a knee injury. He had five points (four goals, one assist) in the playoffs for San Jose. It was Kane’s first appearance in the playoffs in his 9 NHL seasons.

The Sharks easily beat the Anaheim Ducks in the Western Conference First Round. However, the lost the second round to a rampant Vegas Golden Knights.
“Getting traded here was great,” Kane said May 8, two days after San Jose was eliminated. “To be part of a winning environment again and getting to know this group of guys and the coaching staff and this organization as a whole definitely helps and definitely gives me a great idea about San Jose. It’s been really, really positive. Nothing is set in stone, nothing has been talked about, and we’ll take it from there.”
