Denver Nuggets trade forward Wilson Chandler to the Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers are coming off their first playoff appearance in five seasons that saw them reach the Eastern Conference semifinals.

It has led to the front office remaining quite active in their efforts to sustain that success by putting together a more talent-laden roster. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the 76ers have made a trade with the Denver Nuggets to acquire veteran forward Wilson Chandler.

The Denver Nuggets have traded forward Wilson Chandler and a future second-round draft pick to the Philadelphia 76ers, league sources told ESPN on Tuesday.

Chandler has proven through his first 10 seasons of his career that he is a reliable option on both ends of the floor. Although his production took a dip last season, he averaged 10.0 points on 44.5 percent shooting from the floor and 35.8 percent from 3-point range with 5.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists per contest in 74 games played with 71 starts.

The 31-year-old could quickly step into the starting role at small forward or come off the bench as one of their primary offensive contributors. He has also proven to be quite durable over the last three seasons playing in 70-plus games in each campaign.

What may have intrigued the 76ers about Chandler is that he’s on an expiring deal worth $12.8 million in the last year of his contract. This could free up additional salary cap space next offseason to make a move to acquire superstar talent to the mix in the summer of 2019.
