Early Preview: Saints vs. Broncos
It is expected to be a shootout when Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos play host to the New Orleans Saints. With these two great quarter backs on the field the wind is going to come down to which teams defense is able to stifle the other teams quarterback. If the game needed to be more interesting, the stakes to win are high as we enter the halfway point of the season and the Saints do not have much time to recoup their 2-4 deficit and the Broncos are anxious to get a winning record and takes the AFC West.
The Saints are currently tied for second place in the NFC South with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They are unlikely to catch the 6-0 Atlanta Falcons but a win against Denver will continue a hot streak for quarterback Drew Brees. Brees has led his team to two victories over the last couple weeks and win against the Broncos could put his team right back in the hunt for a future wild card spot.
The Broncos are currently tied for first place in the AFC West with the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers have a game with the 1-6 Browns in Week 8. The Chargers are favored to win this game with a  -2.5 point spread. If the Broncos want to remain competitive in their division they are going to need to hand a loss to the Saints.
Both teams have some good momentum going into this game. The Saints are coming off of a win with division rivals and the team they are tied for second place with the Buccaneers. The Broncos are coming out of a bye week, but in Week 6 they got a huge victory over the team they are currently tied in first place in their division with the San Diego Chargers.
One way or the other, one of these teams momentum is going to be stifled in this game.
Both Brees and Manning are going to lead their teams to play some great offensive football. What this game will be determined by is the defense. In that regard the Broncos have the advantage when you look at the stat. The Broncos have the 10th best defense in the NFL. The Saints defense ranks 32nd.
The Saints best hope to win this football games is for their offense to throw the ball. Drew Brees and the Saints offense will need to simply keep up with the Broncos offense and hope the ball ends up in their hands last. In other words, this one is going to be a shootout.
Betonline’s sportsbook seems to agree that this is going to be a shootout as this game has the highest over/under points in Week 8 of NFL play. The over/under is 55.5 points.  The Saints would have to go against a 6 point spread in order to win this ball game so their odds are not very good. The moneyline for this game is at -265 for the Broncos and +225 for the New Orleans saints.
The game starts Sunday night at 8:20 p.m ET on NBC.
