Patriots acquire WR Josh Gordon in trade with Browns
The Cleveland Browns made it clear this weekend that they plan on moving on from star wide receiver Josh Gordon. It didn’t take long for the Browns to find a resolution to the situation after agreeing to trade Gordon to the New England Patriots in exchange for a 2019 fifth-round pick, according to ESPN.

The Cleveland Browns have traded talented but troubled wide receiver Josh Gordon to the New England Patriots.
In return, the Browns will get a 2019 fifth-round pick, while the Pats will get a 2019 seventh-round pick from the Browns if Gordon is not active for 10 games, league sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

This is a low-risk move for the Patriots. It didn’t require them to give up any players with only a mid-round selection for a proven talent to add to their passing game. New England has had a glaring hole at the wide receiver position that has undergone much change over the offseason.
The addition of Gordon could give them a legitimate No.1 wideout that can become the leading factor in the passing game next to Pro Bowl tight end Rob Gronkowski. This could be the missing piece offensively that the Patriots need in order to make the march for another deep playoff run to the Super Bowl.
When given the opportunity to play, Gordon has shown he can be a huge offensive factor as he displayed a glimpse of that in the Browns’ season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers with an impressive 17-yard touchdown reception.
