Warriors’ Kevin Durant claims spat with Draymond Green won’t impact free agency
Golden State Warriors star forward Kevin Durant’s pending free agency next offseason has once again become a topic of discussion.
This has been pushed to the forefront after the entire spat on the court with Durant and Draymond Green. The incident occurred in the fourth quarter of the overtime loss to the L.A Clippers last week. In response to all of that speculation, Durant voiced to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports that what happened been him and Green won’t factor in his free agency decision.

“Nah, [it won’t factor],†Durant told Yahoo Sports on Tuesday. “Because at the end of the day, I’m just a ballplayer that’s just trying to be in a great environment to play basketball and groom my skills every day. And I want to compete on a level that once the game starts, I’m just totally comfortable with my surroundings, with just going out there and being me.â€
This is clearly the furthest thing from Durant’s mind at this point in time. It’s clear his clear focus is on helping his team compete for a third straight NBA title. Durant also likely has no interest in making this story linger on throughout the year. It could become a bigger distraction and be detrimental to the Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors have tumbled a bit over the last couple of weeks. They’ve dropped their last three straight games played and five out of the last seven contests overall. This situation may very well be weighing on the team, but there are still plenty of games to be played this season to iron it out.
Ultimately, Durant’s pending free agency situation will remain an underlying story through the rest of this campaign.
