Giants superstar Odell Beckham Jr. taks subtle shot at Pat Shurmur

The New York Giants saw their two-game winning streak snapped on Sunday. The team fell to a disappointing 25-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

It was a contest heading into the game that the Eagles had many questions in the secondary depleted with injuries to their primary defensive backs. Following the game, Giants star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. made it clear that attacking Philadelphia in the passing game wasn’t in the game plan, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.

“Honestly, that is a question for Coach [Giants coach Pat Shurmur],” Beckham said after finishing with five catches on nine targets for 85 yards. “That is not really my kind of question. I don’t call the plays. I just do what I’m told to do and go out there and execute. Whenever I get an opportunity to do something, I try to make the most of it. If I don’t have that many opportunities all I can do is do what I can when I do have an opportunity. That is more a question for Coach.

“Coming in, knowing that they’ve struggled in the secondary, personally, I would’ve loved to attack them. But it wasn’t in our game plan.”

The Eagles went through the game with a group of inexperienced defensive backs in Cre’von LeBlanc, De’Vante Bausby, and undrafted rookie Chandon Sullivan. This had potentially put them in a vulnerable position, but the Giants never truly targeted that unit.

Beckham Jr. did have nine balls thrown his way. On those, he had five catches for 85 receiving yards, but this wasn’t a point of emphasis. New York had the chance to get a decisive edge over them with a 19-3 lead but failed to build on that to grab a huge win.

Beyond that, this disappointing loss has all but eliminated them from being able to get back into the playoff picture.
