Jalen Hurts is not discussing possible transfer right now

Jalen Hurts is widely considered a top candidate to transfer this offseason, but the Alabama quarterback has no interest in discussing that possibility right now.

Hurts met with the media during the lead-up to Bama’s showdown against Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl, a College Football Playoff semifinal.

Hurts is expected to return a backup role behind Tua Tagovailoa, whose injured ankle is reportedly about 80-85 percent healthy. He’s started every game in 2018 since leading Alabama to a national title last season.

Tagovailoa’s ascent has led to rampant speculation from fans and analysts alike who believe that Hurts only option is to depart Tuscaloosa and find a starting job elsewhere.

Hurts, however, decided to stay in Alabama, though he did voice his frustration about his sudden status as a backup before the regular season began. His decision to stick around was finally rewarded early this month when his fourth-quarter heroics in the SEC Championship led to a rally win over Georgia.

Once the CFB Playoff is over, attention will again turn to Hurts’ future with the Crimson Tide. Having graduated in December, there will be no NCAA restrictions on his transfer.
