Larry Fitzgerald Undecided About Returning to Play 16th Season
No decision has been made by wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald about returning to play for the Arizona Cardinals for what would be his 16th season in the NFL.
Larry Fitzgerald has told reporters that he needs time to think following a difficult season. This year, the Cardinals finished 3-13 with the NFL’s worst record and have the No. 1 overall pick in April’s draft.
Arizona has hired Kliff Kingsbury as their latest head coach, but that has not had any influence on what Fitzgerald will decide.

During this weeks’ introductory news conference as the Cardinals head coach, Kingsbury indicated he would love having Fitzgerald on the Cardinals roster next season but said the front office would have to figure out if the veteran wide receiver would be returning.
Kingsbury called Fitzgerald a great leader and great role model to have on the team and that he would be honored and very much enjoy working with Fitzgerald. Kingsbury added that Fitzgerald is a person he has admired for a long time and everyone hopes he returns for another season.

This past season, Fitzgerald did not make an announcement about playing in 2018 until the middle of February. He finished the season with 69 receptions for 734 yards and six touchdowns. If Fitzgerald returns he would be 36 years old at the start of the 2019 regular season.
Fitzgerald is No. 2 all-time in career receiving yards. The all-time leader Jerry Rice has over 6,000 more yards than does Fitzgerald, but Fitzgerald could be No. 2 all-time in career receptions surpassing the current No. 2 Tony Gonzalez if he were to return for one more season. Fitzgerald currently trails Gonzalez by 22 receptions.
