NFL Draft shaping up to have ample intrigue

The NFL Draft start on April 25 in Nashville. The lead-up will be about Kyler Murray, Nick Bosa and whether or not we see some big trades in the early going.

However, there’s so much more than that to ponder. Let’s start with the obvious, though.

Murray has been the name we’ve heard the most and will continue to hear for some time. Whether the Arizona Cardinals select humor not remains a mystery, although those within the league are starting to believe he’ll end up in the desert. All that said, what happens to Josh Rosen should Murray go to Arizona? Logic says the Cardinals will make up their minds prior to the draft and ship Rosen out for a draft pick or two, but perhaps this comes down to the night of the event.

Beyond the Cardinals, there are going to be a few interesting teams to watch with the quarterbacks. The Oakland Raiders have Derek Carr, but they’ve long been rumored to be on a few of these quarterbacks. Will Dwayne Haskins, Drew Lock or Murray end up in the silver and black?

Then there are the New York Giants, suddenly armed with a pair of first-round choices. New York has Eli Manning for another year, but after that, the future is uncertain. The Giants have a litany of holes on both sides of the ball, but taking Haskins at No. 6 overall, or Lock/Daniel Jones at No. 17 has to be considered.

But what about the storylines beyond the quarterbacks?

Defensively, where will Clemson defensive end Dexter Lawrence go? Lawrence is coming off an injury but is one of the most talented kids in the draft. On the back end, LSU cornerback Greedy Williams was thought to be a surefire top-10 pick back in December. Now, he’s trending towards the back end of the first round. Is he sliding for good reason, or does he prove to be a huge value?

As for the skill position players on offense, who stands out? D.K. Metcalf has gotten plenty of attention after his outrageous performance at the NFL Scouting Combine, but is he the best available? It’s hard to overlook his Ole Miss teammate A.J. Brown, and Oklahoma’s Hollywood Brown is electric. While there isn’t any receiver worth discussing as a top pick, there are plenty of guys who will slot in between the middle portion of the first round and the early part of the second day.
