NFL Draft grades 2019: 5 teams that are the biggest winners

5. New England Patriots

The Patriots did a terrific job of fortifying an already championship-level roster. New England added another running back in Damien Harris and the secondary got even better with second-round cornerback JoeJuan Williams out of Vanderbilt. In the first round, head coach Bill Belichick got Tom Brady a nice toy in wide receiver N’Keal Harry from Arizona State. Harry is already the best weapon on the outside in New England.

4. Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles are one of the most well-run teams in the league, and it showed throughout this draft. General manager Howie Roseman did a nice job to land Andre Dillard in the first round. Dillard, a fifth-year senior out of Washington State, should eventually replace Jason Peters at the left tackle spot. In addition, the Eagles landed receiver J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, who might become what Nelson Agholor never fully blossomed into.

3. Arizona Cardinals

It’s hard not to be on this list when you have the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. It’s arguable whether the Cardinals should have used that pick on Kyler Murray or simply kept Josh Rosen and built around him, but Murray does have tremendous talent at the game’s most important position. General manager Steve Keim also did well to land Byron Murphy with the first pick in the second round. Murphy should slot in across from Patrick Peterson in the secondary on Day 1.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars

General manager Dave Caldwell played this perfectly. The Jaguars were mocked almost universally to be taking University of Florida left tackle Jawaan Taylor in the first round at No. 7. Instead, Jacksonville went defensively when edge rusher Josh Allen fell to it. Then, in the second round, the Jaguars moved up a few spots and snagged Taylor, giving them two amazing value picks in the top 40 selections.

1. Buffalo Bills

Buffalo has to be beyond thrilled about the way everything fell on the board. Sitting with the No. 9 overall selection, general manager Brandon Beane never could have imagined Ed Oliver being there at that spot. Oliver was supposed to be the top pick only a few months ago, and now he winds up in Buffalo. Additionally, the Bills did really well to get Cody Ford in the second round, again without having to move up. The Bills got arguably two of the top 20 players in the draft and didn’t give up an ounce of capital to do so.
