Le’Veon Bell Keeping His “Formula†Over Jets Voluntary Practice
On Monday, New York Jets recently signed running back Le’Veon Bell, posted on social media that he knows the formula that works for him to be the best football player he can be.
Bell used social media as means of responding to a question over when he was going to attend the Jets practice after he skipped some of their voluntary workout sessions.
Bell said he needed to stick to a formula that works best for him, as he does not just want to win football games, but he wants a ring and wants to desperately show everyone what he can do.
Bell added that he could take the heat at this time, as everyone will forget about it once January rolls around.
Bell participated in voluntary workouts for the first week, which started on April 8, but he has not taken part since. In April, head coach Adam Gase did not seem concerned with Bell being absent at the beginning of the voluntary mini-camp that was for three days.
Gase said the camp was voluntary and Bell was present for offseason workouts the first week and the team was able to get a good amount of information to Bell that week.
Gase added that players not attending are able to stay abreast of things remotely through their playbooks on iPad. New York will have its first official practice May 21, but that is also voluntary. The first team event that will be mandatory is another minicamp that begins June 4.
New York signed Bell during the offseason to a $52.5 million four-year deal that consists of full guaranteed money in the amount of $27 million.
The Jets want to surround second year QB Sam Darnold with playmakers and made Bell the principal focal point of the offensive game plan. The Jets also signed free agent wide out Jamison Crowder and acquired guard Kelechi Osemele via a trade.
