Rams ‘very pleased’ with Todd Gurley’s progress

Since the end of the 2018 season, there has been plenty of attention on the health of Los Angeles Rams star running back Todd Gurley.

In light of that, the Rams have moved quite carefully with Gurley through the offseason. Gurley has had little involvement in voluntary offseason workouts. Head coach Sean McVay touched upon the offseason regiment that the Rams have for their All-Pro running back, according to Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.

“He’s also been here consistently, pretty much every single day of the week,” McVay said. “He’s been an active participant following the program that we’ve implemented with him and we’re very pleased with where Todd is at right now.”

There has been plenty of scrutiny on Gurley’s health. The Rams star dealt with a nagging knee injury in the second half of the season. He missed the last couple of games of the regular season in order to keep him fresh for the playoffs.

He was able to play in the playoffs, but there remained questions around the health of his knee. The team eventually leaned more heavily upon veteran running back C.J. Anderson. This was more apparent in the Super Bowl as his role was also limited.

With that in mind, the Rams look to be taking a more cautious approach to the offseason schedule for Gurley. It was also made quite clear with the team taking former Memphis running back Darrell Henderson in the third round of this year’s draft that should see him play in a supplementary role behind him.
