Niners’ Nick Bosa undergoing MRI for ankle injury

San Francisco 49ers defensive end, and their first-round draft pick, Nick Bosa left practice early Wednesday after suffering an ankle injury. He did leave the field under his own power.

Also injured during the session were corner Jason Verrett and receiver Marquise Goodwin.

“I think he’s alright,” defensive coordinator Robert Saleh said, per Cam Inman of the Mercury News. “I still haven’t heard from the performance staff, but I don’t think there’s anything to worry about.”

The No. 2 overall pick in April’s draft, Nick Bosa is expected to play an integral role for the 49ers in 2019. That’s if, of course, he can stay healthy.

Bosa signed his rookie contract just ahead of training camp after missing a vast portion of the 49ers offseason program due to a hamstring injury. He also missed much of his final season at Ohio State following “major surgery” to repair damage to a core muscle.

Now both Bosa and the oft-injured Verrett are both undergoing MRIs, indicating a possible cause for concern.

With Bosa out of the lineup and Dee Ford also sidelined with knee tendinitis, DeForest Buckner received some reps as an edge-rusher, according to Inman.
