Taco Charlton Resorts to Twitter Antics to Leave the Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys’ roster troubles rumble on this week – this time it’s the turn of defensive end Taco Charlton.
Taco Charlton took to social media on Monday to try to engineer a move away from the Dallas Cowboys. He initially tweeted ‘Free me’ in a post that was quickly deleted.
Taco Charlton tweeted a follow up afterwards, though.
“Trust me the last thing I want to do is to have to go to social media to get what I want so I can play football again.â€
The 2017 first-round pick is guaranteed a $1.376 million base salary this season, and $458,000 next season. The Cowboys have discussed trading Charlton, but nothing concrete has come to fruition.Â

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been quick to reassure fans over the status of Dak Prescott, Amari Cooper and Ezekiel Elliott. When asked about Charlton, he didn’t give much away.
“We are not getting into that at all in any way,” he said.
“I know there is some discussion. We don’t get into that.”
Cowboys coach Jason Garrett didn’t give any indication that Charlton is particularly important to the team when asked on Monday.Â
“Just competing for a spot to get a jersey each week, like a lot of guys on our team,†he said.
“What we’re doing to try to do is play the best guys and the guys who give us the best chance to win. And they have to earn those opportunities in practice each week.”

Charlton has not been able to establish himself as a regular in the Cowboys lineup. He has four sacks in 22 games, of which seven were starts.
In the past year, he has had surgery on his shoulder as well as his ankle.
