Raiders part ways with wide receiver Ryan Grant
The Raiders have gotten off to a bumpy start to the 2019 season, dropping two out of their first three games.
Oakland has decided to make some roster moves ahead of Week 4 action against the Indianapolis Colts by cutting wide receiver Ryan Grant in correspondence to the promotion of linebacker Justin Phillips to the roster, according to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.
With Phillips joining the roster, the Raiders had to make room by parting ways with another player. They announced that wide receiver Ryan Grant has been released as the corresponding move.
Grant joined the Raiders back in April and grabbed a smaller role within the offense. In the first two games of the season, he had four catches for 14 receiving yards. Grant was on the inactive list for Sunday’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
The decision to part ways with the veteran wideout now leaves the Raiders with Tyrell Williams, Keelan Doss, Trevor Davis, Hunter Renfrow, J.J. Nelson, and Dwayne Harris on the roster at the position.
Oakland has quickly sputtered south through the first three weeks with their offense struggling to produce. They are currently ranked 29th in the league with 16.0 points per contest, along with being 24th with 217.0 passing yards per game and 16th with 105.0 rushing yards per contest.
The Raiders have had a great lack of offensive production this season, scoring 14 or fewer points in their last two games since moving past the Denver Broncos in the season opener.
