NFL Week 6: 5 best games of Sunday to watch
5. New Orleans Saints at Jacksonville Jaguars (-3)
This game might be the proverbial under-the-radar affair from a national standpoint, but it shouldn’t be. The Saints lost Drew Brees to a torn ligament in his right thumb in Week 2, and they haven’t lost a game since. There’s ample evidence New Orleans might be the best team in the NFC. Meanwhile, Gardner Minshew has real talent and the Jaguars are in the AFC South mix, only trailing by a single game. If Jacksonville can find a way to beat the Saints at home, it suddenly puts itself into a fine position entering Week 7.
4. Seattle Seahawks (-1) at Cleveland Browns
This is an enormous game for the Browns. Cleveland is trying to finally get some momentum after being drubbed 31-3 on Monday night by the San Francisco 49ers. If the Browns are going to get rolling, finding a way to beat the 4-1 Seahawks would certainly be a nice turning point. As for Seattle, it guarantees gaining ground on either the 49ers or Los Angeles Rams with a win, who play each other later in the day.
3. Philadelphia Eagles at Minnesota Vikings (-3.5)
Philadelphia and Minnesota are two quality teams, and both need this game. Each are 3-2 and haven’t been able to quite get into top gear. In Minnesota, Kirk Cousins has justifiably taken the criticism for the offense’s struggles. In Philadelphia, it’s been a crush of injuries and inconsistent play out of the secondary. The winner will be 4-2 and feeling good. The loser will be 3-3 and in a mild panic.
2. San Francisco 49ers at Los Angeles Rams (-3)
This is the opportunity for the 49ers to make a big move. While they are 4-0 and the last unbeaten team in the NFC, the opponents have largely been terrible. Now, the Rams are playing host to San Francisco, and even with running back Todd Gurley and corner Aqib Talib ruled out, Los Angeles is undoubtedly a quality foe. For either team, this is a statement win.
1. Houston Texans at Kansas City Chiefs (-4)
Simply put: Patrick Mahomes vs. Deshaun Watson. Yes, Mahomes is the better quarterback, but Watson can be every bit as electric. The Chiefs are coming off a hideous showing in their first loss of the year where the offense only mustered 13 points. With Tyreek Hill as a game-time decision, Kansas City’s weapons could be getting an infusion. As for the Texans, winning this game would be an enormous boost in both their confidence and in the standings.
