49ers coach Kyle Shanahan says he’s ‘moved on’ from time with Redskins
It has been several years since Kyle Shanahan last coached the Washington Redskins, but there still remains some lingering emotions to that time.
However, Shanahan voiced on Wednesday’s Sunday road game against the Redskins that he has moved on from his time with the franchise, according to Nick Wagoner of ESPN.
“No, not at all,” Shanahan said. “That was a while ago. I’ve been in three different buildings since. My dad retired. He’s good. We’ve accepted what we had to deal with there and moved on. We’ll watch other people deal with it.”
During his stint with Washington, Shanahan served as the offensive coordinator under his father, Mike Shanahan, for four seasons. The team had their fair share of ups and downs during that stint that has left a strong impression on him.
It’s clear that he has moved on to the next chapter of his coaching career as he has developed something special with the San Francisco 49ers, who are 5-0 to begin the 2019 season. The 49ers look like they could be a team that can make a serious run towards the NFC West division title while potentially being a team that can venture deep into the playoffs.
In the meantime, Sunday’s game will be a game that he will publicly approach as it being just another game. There are undoubtedly strong memories there having worked with his father, but he has moved from the situation towards what could be a very promising set up with the 49ers.
