Jets star Jamal Adams expects his contract to get extended
In his first few seasons in the league, New York Jets star safety Jamal Adams has become one of the top defensive players in the league. Adams has ingrained himself as a centerpiece to the puzzle with the Jets, which has put his long-term future in greater focus.
Adams is heading into the final year of his rookie deal, which puts his contract situation at the forefront for the franchise. It’s something that he has voiced that he believes that his new extension will get worked at some point over the offseason. (H/T Rich Cimini of ESPN)
“I’d be lying if I said I don’t expect to be extended,” Adams told Newsday and the New York Post. “I do, not for what I’ve just done on the field, but even off the field for what I’ve done for the organization. I’ve done everything they’ve asked me to do. I’ve done it at a high level each and every year.”
Although his name was tossed around the trade deadline this past season, Adams and the Jets have patched things up. He is committed to being apart of the long-term future in New York and a key piece of their rebuild. That has put a great deal of importance of locking him into a new deal that will keep him in a Jets’ uniform for years to come.
There should be more on this front in the coming weeks as the offseason inches closer that could see the Jets be quite active.
