Dolphins, Lions are favorites to land Tua Tagovailoa
In the months leading up to the 2020 NFL Draft, there are a few intriguing quarterbacks in this year’s class. One of the most intriguing is Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa.
He is expected to be taken in the first few picks of the draft as one of the top prospects. According to David Purdum of ESPN, the betting odds from Caesars sportsbook has the Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins as the betting favorites to snag Tagovailoa.

Caesars has the Lions and Dolphins as co-favorites at -110 to land Tagovailoa, who is recovering from a hip injury he suffered in mid-November. Detroit owns the third pick in April’s NFL draft, with Miami at No. 5.
These betting odds would place Tagovailoa as a top-five selection in this year’s draft. The Lions are currently sitting at the third overall spot, and the Lions two picks behind them at No. 5. These two teams are likely to have some significant interest in taking a quarterback with their first-round selection.
Detriot’s situation is quite intriguing as there is some chatter that the team could look to move off Pro Bowler Matthew Stafford this offseason. Stafford is coming off a shoulder injury that prematurely ended his 2019 season.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins have long been rumored to have some keen interest in Tagovailoa. Miami had journeyman quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick head the charge last year, but a shift to the Alabama product could be in the books for them.
As the draft draws closer, there should be more movement at the top of the board with other teams such as the Los Angeles Chargers and Carolina Panthers potentially getting into the mix to snag Tua Tagovailoa. Time will tell.
