Stefon Diggs hints at his time with Vikings being over
Throughout stretches of the 2019 season, there were rocky times for star wide receiver Stefon Diggs with the Minnesota Vikings.
Many had speculated that he wanted out of the franchise, but the team shot down that notion. However, this time around, it appears to be different as he took to social media on Monday to voice his desire change to occur, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.
“Every time Stefon Diggs gets butt hurt he posts some ominous tweet about new beginnings or change,†said @zack_a9. “Then we get report ‘Minnesota has no intention of trading Diggs’ and he posts himself in Vikings uniform hugging a teammate or something. Relax Pats fans, he’s just a drama queen.â€
Responded Diggs: “Nah this ain’t one of them times champ. Something’s going to happen.â€
Things had taken an intriguing turn on Monday after the Vikings had inked Pro Bowl quarterback Kirk Cousins to a two-year, $66 million deal. Shortly after that, it led to Diggs taking to Twitter to voice his desire to be moved.
His comments push Minnesota into the spot of having to move on from him this offseason. Diggs is entering the second year of his five-year, $72 million deal that runs through the 2023 campaign.
Despite the notable drop off in his production, it marked the second straight 1,000 receiving campaign for the 26-year-old. The Vikings could quickly garner a substantial market for his services as he’s in the prime of his career under a multi-year deal. There should be more to come on this front in the coming days.
