Cardinals star Kyler Murray to begin working with DeAndre Hopkins
There is an increased amount of buzz around the Arizona Cardinals after what’s been a busy offseason.
That includes the franchise providing second-year quarterback Kyler Murray with one of the best wide receivers in the league in DeAndre Hopkins. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury recently voiced that Murray is expected to begin throwing soon with Hopkins and his other teammates. (H/T Pro Football Talk)
“I can definitely sense the comfort level with Kyler,” Kingsbury said, via Mason Kern of SI.com. “We would all love to have been on the grass, getting the hundreds of reps he would have gotten, but just talking through film with him, listening to the way he’s seeing the game now, his understanding of concepts, he’s definitely taken a step in that area. That’s all we could hope for right now.
“The physical stuff is going to be there. He’s working really hard physically, throwing, doing all those things, but just the way he’s seeing the game, the way we’re getting on the same page seeing the game, I know that’s going to continue. The more we can all be on the same page as an offense once we finally get together, that’s just going to try and help us take that next step.”
Murray is coming off an impressive rookie campaign that earned him Rookie of the Year honors. The team is hoping that he can take the next step in his development to become an even greater threat throwing the ball. He had shown flashes of promise in his first year.
The addition of Hopkins should be another step in the right direction for the Cardinals. Arizona has the pieces in place to have one of the more exciting offenses in the league.
