Patriots QB Cam Newton reacts to rough outing against Broncos

The New England Patriots have been a mediocre football team during the 2020 NFL season thus far. The team no longer has Tom Brady under center and it shows. Replacement Cam Newton is struggling to follow in the footsteps of arguably the greatest quarterback in league history.

On Sunday, the Patriots suffered their worst loss of the season to a team that finally got their starting quarterback back on the field in Drew Lock. Although Newton did what he could to keep the Patriots in this game, it wasn’t nearly enough and he reacted to the loss after the game, via Pro Football Talk.

“Honestly for me right now I’m just trying to move forward, obviously respectfully that was two weeks ago, still bitter over the game and just trying to focus on ways to just get better,” Newton said. “Obviously everybody knows what the situation was and it is what it is and I just know for me here moving forward I just got to play better football and that’s what I’m going to try to do.”

With this loss, the Patriots drop to 2-3 on the season. Bill Belichick’s team could be headed for a disappointing end to the year. The team was hit with multiple COVID-19 cases recently, including Newton testing positive. However New England still isn’t the same team. As a result it will have to figure out how to turn things around sooner rather than later.

It won’t get any easier moving forward. The Patriots face the San Francisco 49ers next week and the upstart Buffalo Bills the week after.
