Tom Brady ‘Making The Best’ of Covid Affected Adaptation

The ability of Tom Brady to adapt to a new team was always going to be a hot topic.

The challenge of adapting to a new coach in Tampa Bay, however, has possibly flown under the radar. After all, Tom Brady and Bill Belichick’s double act was the foundation of the New England Patriots dynasty.

Over in Foxborough, the storied coach is struggling for fluency without his general of the past 20 years.

Both Belichick and Tom Brady are on the rebound and trying to adjust to new partners. A tough task in any circumstances, and the Covid-19 pandemic has made it even more complicated.

Sources outside of the Buccaneers camp have suggested a discordance between Brady and head coach Bruce Arians. The evergreen quarterback dismissed those on Thursday, instead citing the pandemic as the biggest challenge for his adaptation.

“I feel we have a great relationship”, Brady said.

From the moment I got here, we’ve just had great dialogue and I certainly appreciate all the insight he gives me and the way he coaches and leads.”

He and Arians were supposed to go golfing together during Tampa’s bye week. However, the league put a stop to it as it would have violated health regulations. The same safety protocols have also hindered Brady’s relationship with his new teammates.

“It’s been a different year for all of us dealing with those type of circumstances where normally you would have opportunities to get to know each other in a different way,” Brady said.

“One thing that’s tough for all of us around the facility is you don’t get one-on-one time with anybody [and] you don’t get any personal time where you’d be sitting around talking and eating together. There’s no close contact, so every conversation is just very different than what it’s been in the past. We’re making the best of it.”
