Packers QB Aaron Rodgers new favorite for NFL MVP over Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes
Throughout the 2020 season, it has been a heated battle to the finish line to make a strong push for the MVP award.
There have been several players to make convincing cases to earn the prestigious honor. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, PointsBet has moved Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers as the slight favorite over Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Via PointsBet, Rodgers now represents a -295 proposition to win the award. (Bet $295 to win $100.) Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who had been the favorite ever since overtaking Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, is now +250.
Rodgers continues to prove to be an ageless wonder with another impressive campaign. His production has the Packers in the driver’s seat for the No. 1 seed in the NFC heading into Week 17 action. He currently leads the league with 44 touchdown passes to five interceptions, fifth with 4,039 passing yards and first with an 83.9 quarterback rating.
The 36-year-old is coming off a nearly perfect performance in the 40-14 win over the Tennessee Titans with 21-of-25 completed passes for 231 yards with four touchdowns to an interception. Rodgers continues to add to his resume this season that has further cemented him as the frontrunner for the MVP award.
It isn’t to discredit the seasons or diminish what Mahomes and Russell Wilson have done, but rather, his production is on another level. Rodgers will have one final opportunity to cement his case to earn his third MVP award.
