Warriors superstar Steph Curry believes he is a candidate for NBA MVP
The MVP race is starting to heat up. Two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry of the Warriors is starting to make a strong case for his third award.
After another incredible scoring performance in which he dropped 40 points on the Orlando Magic, Curry talked about whether he’s a candidate for the regular-season award this year, via ESPN.

“The game speaks for itself,” said Curry, who previously won the MVP award in the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons. “Those two [MVP] years is the exact same kind of conversation. Obviously, that’s an amazing accomplishment, and being in that conversation with all that we’ve been through these last two years, that means something. Those narratives make themselves as you go throughout the season, and my job is obviously just be at the level that I expect to be, and usually that means you’re at the top at the end of the season.
“I really try not to get distracted by that because it kind of taints the moment. And really right now, if I’m doing my job, then I’ll be there at the end of the season, and that will take care of itself.”

Although anything can happen from here on out, Curry will have some stiff competition to win the MVP this year. LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers is arguably the favorite to win the award at this point. Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic are also making a case to come out on top.
It’ll be an interesting second half of Curry’s season as he tries to keep his Warriors competition and in the playoff hunt in the Western Conference. The difference this time is that he’s a leader in a new look, young roster.
