Golden State Warriors Coming Into Their Own At Right Time

The breakup of a dynastic team is as much an identity crisis as it is a sporting crisis. Just ask the Golden State Warriors.

After four NBA finals in five years, the Golden State Warriors were the team to beat. It’s been a long time since they were underdogs, a tag they’re beginning to relish at the right moment.

Draymond Green feels the Golden State Warriors are coming into form just in time for the play-in tournament next week.

After being the top dogs for so long, Draymond Green is up for the fight of defying expectations.

A 122 – 116 win over the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night was their second big win in quick succession. After beating the Utah Jazz on Monday, the Warriors are beating teams they would have lost to a few months ago.

“For a second there we were the hunters, then we turned into the hunted for five, six years, whatever it was. And now we’re hunting again,” Green said on Tuesday night.

“That’s always a fun position to be in when you’re hunting, going after everybody else. Obviously, [I have] experience [in] both, but I love hunting. That’s fun.”

All the more significant is that they were able to beat the Suns despite Steph Curry not having his best night.

Curry was only 7-of-22 from the field and 1-for-11 from beyond the arc on Tuesday night. Fortunately, his teammates were there to bail him out.

Green recorded his 6th triple double of the season with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. Andrew Wiggins scored 38 points, while Jordan Poole scored 20 points off the bench. It was Golden State’s 13th win in 18 games.

“Earlier in the season, we were so Steph heavy,” Green said. “Everything had to be Steph, and if Steph couldn’t get it going, we were kind of done. We moved the ball tonight. We didn’t shoot great, but we hit the shots when they mattered.”
