Steph Curry Is Play-In Opponent LeBron’s MVP Pick

With 46 points against the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday, Steph Curry became the 2021 NBA regular season scoring champion. 

Steph Curry (33), is now the oldest scoring champion since Michael Jordan in 1998. At 33 years old, Jordan and Steph Curry are the only leading scorers aged 33 or over in NBA history. 

Curry also joins Jordan, Chamberlain and Abdul-Jabbar as the only players to have multiple scoring titles, MVPs and Championships. It was his first scoring title since 2016. Over his 2,000 point season, Curry averaged 32 points.

With the win, the Golden State Warriors set up a play-in clash with the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday.

The Warriors are coming into form at exactly the right time for a potential playoff run. Against Memphis, Curry made nine of 22 three pointers as well as nine assists and seven rebounds.

As well as that, it was the Warriors’ sixth win in a row. They will face a Lakers team that is still struggling to play fluently. Golden State will think they have a chance to catch the defending champions cold.

Lakers talisman LeBron James is well aware of the threat Curry poses off the back of a career season.

“I mean, just look at what he’s done this year,” James said.

“I don’t know anything else if you’re looking for an MVP. If Steph is not on Golden State’s team, what are we looking at?”

“We get caught up in the records sometimes. We get caught up in the, OK, who has the best record instead of just saying who had the best season that year. And Steph has had, in my opinion, the best season all year.”

As a result of their loss, the Memphis Grizzlies will host the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday.
