Saquon Barkley: Giants Offense Will Be Deadly ‘Once We Get Going’
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley feels he’s ready for more, despite an underwhelming first game back in action.
Saquon Barkley played his first game after an ACL injury sustained last September in the Week 1 Broncos defeat.
He rushed ten times for only 26 yards on Sunday, although he looked as fast and strong as we remember. The 2018 Pro Bowler played in about half of New York’s offensive snaps.

The Giants coaching staff are sensibly easing him back into action. However, Saquon Barkley doesn’t want his knee to be the focus of his performances.
“I don’t want the theme to be, ‘Oh, the run game’s not going ’cause Saquon’s knee. He’s still getting right back from the knee,'” Barkley said.
“That’s not the mindset I’m gonna have. I’m not gonna use that as a crutch. The gig is up. I’m back on the field.”

However, the Giants’ fortunes and Barkley’s recovery were inextricably linked over the summer. The running back echoed the offseason noise coming out of New York – that they will be dangerous once they hit their full potential.
“Hopefully week by week, my knee keeps responding properly and my rep count keeps going,” Barkley said. “The carries I do get, (it’s time to) to get this run game going. Because once we get it going, I think we could be a very good offense.”
