NFL Week 3 games: 5 QBs primed for huge games

Looking over the NFL Week 3 games, there are some quarterbacks around the league poised to exploit favorable matchups.

5. Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals

Any time a good quarterback goes against the Jacksonville Jaguars, they’re making the list. Arizona invades Duval County this weekend with the Cardinals trying to get to 3-0. Murray has a nice group on the outside in receivers DeAndre Hopkins, Christian Kirk and Rondale Moore, playing against a defense that can’t play man coverage. Good luck.

4. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams

This might come as a surprise, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have struggled mightily over the first two weeks against the pass. Don’t expect much to change this Sunday with a visit to Los Angeles. The Rams have a high-powered attack creatively coached by Sean McVay. Look for Stafford to throw the ball all over, especially as Tampa Bay is dealing with injuries in the back end. This should be a nice day for Stafford and the passing game.

3. Daniel Jones, New York Giants

If there’s ever a game where the Giants explode, this is it. After scoring 29 points against a good Washington defense, New York has had 10 days to prepare for the Atlanta Falcons at MetLife Stadium. Atlanta has been the worst scoring defense in football, allowing a comical 40 points per game in an 0-2 start. Jones has a hoard of weapons including running back Saquon Barkley, tight ends Evan Engram and Kyle Rudolph and receiver Kadarius Toney, Sterling Shepard, Kenny Golladay and Darius Slayton. Should be plenty.

2. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

Herbert ranks fourth in passing yardage this season with 675, sitting directly behind Chiefs’ wunderkind Patrick Mahomes. With receivers Mike Williams and Keenan Allen, along with running back Austin Ekler and tight end Jared Cook, Herbert has a nice quartet of weapons to target against a horrid Kansas City defense come Sunday. The Chiefs will probably be scoring plenty as well. With that in mind, Herbert will need to throw constantly to keep Los Angeles in the game.

1. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

If the opponent is going to have a good offensive day, it’s a solid bet to think Mahomes will as he’ll be throwing often. The Chiefs get a Chargers team who struggled to curtail the Dallas Cowboys’ offense, despite only allowing 20 points. Kansas City has a pair of elite weapons in tight end Travis Kelce and wide receiver Tyreek Hill, both of whom rank among the top eight in receiving yardage this year. Look for Mahomes to shine at Arrowhead in a key divisional battle.
