The Arizona Cardinals are off to a blazing start through the first four weeks of the 2021 season. Star quarterback Kyler Murray is leading the charge with his stellar play that has now pushed him past Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes as the betting favorite to secure the regular-season MVP award, according to ESPN.
Murray, at +550, is the favorite to win the Associated Press’ regular-season MVP award at Caesars Sportsbook. Mahomes is next at +600, followed by Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen at +800. Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and Green Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers are each +900.

It’s only a slight edge. However, Kyler Murray has more than done enough to showcase that he’s the frontrunner for the award. It isn’t a slight to Mahomes but instead speaks to the Cardinals quarterback’s impressive performance.
The Oklahoma product is off to a career-best start as he has completed 76.1% of his passes while ranking second in the league with 1,273 passing yards with nine touchdown passes and a 115.0 passer rating.
He’s coming off a strong outing in the road win over the Los Angeles Rams, completing 24-of-32 passes for 268 yards with two touchdowns and a 120.3 passer rating. Murray kept the Rams’ stout defense off-kilter throughout the contest, pushing the Cardinals to a comfortable win.

That said, Mahomes isn’t too far off that pace as he’s pushed the Chiefs to a 3-1 record behind his play. He is fourth with 1,218 passing yards with a league-best 14 touchdown passes and 119.6 passer rating.
Although it may be early, but it could quickly become a two-horse race for the MVP award the rest of the season.
